Call for Proposals

  • Opening day
  • Submission deadline

The 2020 X.Org Developers Conference is the annual technical meeting for X Window System and Free Desktop developers. The attendees will gather to discuss outstanding technical issues related to the Open Source Graphics stack (Linux kernel, Mesa, DRM, Wayland, X11, etc.) and its software ecosystem. The event is free to attend and open to the general public.

The X.Org Program Committee is requesting proposals for talks, workshops and demos at XDC 2020. While any serious proposal will be gratefully considered, topics of interest to X.Org and freedesktop.org developers are encouraged. The program focus is on new development, ongoing challenges and anything else that will spark discussions among attendees in the hallway track.

  • Talk (full slot) (CLOSED)
Technical presentation in the main conference track, with around 35 minutes of presentation plus 10 minutes of Q&A. This can be anything: a work-in-progress talk, a proposal for change, analysis of trends, etc.

  • Talk (half slot) (CLOSED)
Technical presentation in the main conference track, with around 15 minutes of presentation and 5 minutes of Q&A. This can be anything: a work-in-progress talk, a proposal for change, analysis of trends, etc.

  • Workshop Discussion Topic
Discussion topic in the 2nd room. Ideally two people submit a proposal, one to lead the discussion and make sure it stays on track, second person to keep notes. Please mention relevant talk submissions for the main track that should kick of the discussion. These talks will be scheduled early in the conference program. Summary of the discussion will be presented at the end of XDC in a lightning talk.

  • Demo (10 minutes)
We will try to schedule them early and have a demo place throughout the conference.

  • Lightning Talk (5 minutes)
Scheduled throughout the conference in the main track. Any hallway track discussions summaries have priority.

Presenters will be selected from those who submit before the deadline (July 19, 2020). There is usually time left for late talk proposals, but do not count on it. Please do submit your proposal in a timely fashion. You can submit Workshop, Demo and Lightning Talk proposals any time, even during the conference.

XDC 2020 is going to be a virtual conference. No travel grants this year.

Note: You will need to login, or create an account, to submit a proposal. XDC shares the same Indico infrastructure as LPC. Therefore, if you previously registered on the LPC website (linuxplumbersconference.org), you already have an active account and can use the same username & password to login.

The call for proposals is closed.
