LPC 2020 Call for Proposals

Refereed-track talk proposals - Closed

Submissions close: (June 29th) - Speakers notified: (July 13th) - Slides due: (August 21st)

The CfP for the Main Refereed track is now Closed.

Refereed track presentations are 45 minutes in length (which includes time for questions and discussion) and should focus on a specific aspect of the "plumbing" in the Linux system. Examples of Linux plumbing include core kernel subsystems, core libraries, windowing systems, management tools, device support, container run-times, media creation/playback, and so on. The best presentations are not about finished work, but rather problems, proposals, or proof-of-concept solutions that require face-to-face discussions and debate.

Linux Plumbers Conference Program Committee members will be reviewing all submitted proposals. High-quality submission that cannot be accepted due to the limited number of slots will be forwarded to the Microconference leads for further consideration. We also encourage submitters to consider BoF sessions and the unconference.

Microconference proposals - Closed

Submissions close: (TBD - still open) - Speakers notified: (TBD)

The CfP for the Microconferences is now Closed.

A microconference is a collection of collaborative sessions focused on problems in a particular area of the Linux plumbing, which includes the kernel, libraries, utilities, UI, and so forth, but can also focus on cross-cutting concerns such as security, scaling, energy efficiency, or a particular use case. Good microconferences result in solutions to these problems and concerns, while the best microconferences result in patches that implement those solutions.

Kernel Summit talk proposals — Open

Submissions close: (TBD - still open) - Speakers notified: (TBD)

The goal of the Kernel Summit track will be to provide a forum to discuss specific technical issues that would be easier to resolve in person than over e-mail. The program committee will also consider "information sharing" topics if they are clearly of interest to the wider development community (i.e., advanced training in topics that would be useful to kernel developers).

Birds of a Feather (BoF) proposals - Open

In 2019 BoF sessions were very popular. BoF sessions graduated to having their own track for the first time. These are free-form get-togethers for people wishing to discuss a particular topic. Please submit proposals for BoFs you wish to hold online through the LPC 2020 platform. This year informal BoFs that might been have held at local drinking establishments or in the “hallway track” will not be possible. So submit your proposal to make your BoF part of LPC 2020.

Microconference topics proposals - Closed

This year again, microconference topics can be submitted using the LPC CfP process embedded inside the LPC web platform.

To suggest a topic for a microconference, please follow the Refereed-track proposal instructions and select the microconference topic as the track you wish to submit to.

Networking & BPF Summit talk proposals - Closed

Submissions close: (August 2nd) - Speakers notified: (August 9th) - Slides due: (August 24th)

The Networking & BPF Summit committee is seeking talk proposals of 40 minutes in length (including Q & A), optionally accompanied by papers of 2 to 10 pages in length. The papers, while not required, are very strongly encouraged by the committee. The submitters' intention to provide a paper will be taken into consideration as a criteria when deciding which proposals to accept.

GNU Tools Track talk proposals - Closed

Submissions close: (July 31) - Speakers notified: (August 9th) - Slides due: (August 24th)

The GNU Tools track committee is accepting proposals for talks, BoFs and developer tutorials. Submissions are been handled separately by the program committee, please follow the instructions on the GNU Tools track wiki.
