Maintaining data security and system integrity is crucial for businesses and individuals. Computer security is paramount even at system boot up, as firmware attacks can compromise the system before the operating system starts. In order to keep the integrity of the system intact, both the firmware as well as the rest of the system must be vigilant in monitoring and preventing malware intrusion.<\/p>\n<p>As a result of <a href=\"https:\/\/www.linuxplumbersconf.org\/event\/4\/page\/34-accepted-microconferences#security\">last year&#8217;s microconference<\/a> Oracle sent out <a href=\"https:\/\/lwn.net\/Articles\/816053\/\">patches<\/a> to support <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/TrenchBoot\">Trenchboot<\/a> in the Linux kernel and in <a href=\"https:\/\/lists.gnu.org\/archive\/html\/grub-devel\/2020-05\/msg00011.html\">GRUB2<\/a>. An agreement was also reached on problems with <a href=\"https:\/\/patchwork.ozlabs.org\/project\/ltp\/patch\/1558041162.3971.2.camel@linux.ibm.com\/\">TPM 2.0 Linux sysfs interface<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p>Over the past year, 3mdeb has been working on various open-source contributions to <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/3mdeb\/landing-zone\">LandingZone<\/a> and also <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/3mdeb\/grub\">GRUB2<\/a> and <a href=\"https:\/\/github.com\/3mdeb\/linux\">Linux kernel<\/a> to improve TrenchBoot support.<\/p>\n<p>This year&#8217;s topics to be discussed include:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Continued work on TrenchBoot<\/li>\n<li>TrenchBoot and UEFI runtime services<\/li>\n<li>Passing the bootloader logs to the kernel\/userspace<\/li>\n<li>LinuxBoot &#8211; UEFI support improvements in the kernel<\/li>\n<li>SMI Transfer Monitor (STM) and its impact on security<\/li>\n<li>More topics that cross the firmware\/Linux boundary<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Come and join us in the discussion about how to keep your system secure even at bootup.
